Where to Hit, Head or Knees?

I’ve watched a few games now that defensive players are hitting “defenseless” receivers low and messing their legs up.  I would like to thank Roger Goodell for that, too.  I think if you took a poll, players would rather get hit in the head than the knees.

“The target is now lower,” John Elway said on Monday, via USA Today. “Harrison yesterday, because of the fact that he’s been fined so often, really had no other option. . . . I don’t think he intended to hurt Eric. But obviously because of the situations he’s been in, he had to go low and stay away from the head. And it ended up costing an MCL sprain for Eric.”

If I said let’s have a contest to see who can punch the hardest in the face, but after I went first, I declared the game was over and I’d won… would that be fair?  Or what if in the top of the 10th inning, after a home run, the game just ended?  No wait, I got it…. overtime in basketball, the first team to sink a bucket wins.  All that is cool right?  HELL NO!

The NFL overtime rules are the DUMBEST thing in sports.  Actually, they are the second dumbest thing.  The BCS is still number one!

This weekend in the NFL playoffs, two teams were trading blows and one got to punch the other team without getting hit back.  I watched that game for many reasons, thinking Denver was going to get killed and it ended up being a great game.  Seeing Tebow finally have real quarterback stats was actually impressive.  On the other side, watching a team that lost a few starters and also a coach hang in there and fight to the end made for great TV.  It was playoff football at its best!  Too bad it ended because of some rules that were passed by guys that obviously have no clue.  Just let them play a shortened quarter and let the best team win.
