Vincent Jackson Replaces Calvin Johnson on NFC Pro Bowl Roster

The National Football League announced today that Tampa Bay WR Vincent Jackson has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster, replacing Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson.

Jackson, an eighth-year player, started all 16 games this season and was one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL this season. Jackson finished the season with 72 catches for 1,384 receiving yards, both career-highs, along with eight receiving touchdowns. His 1,384 receiving yards were the fifth-most in the NFL this season, and his 19.2 yards per catch were the highest mark in the league.

He replaces an ailing Calvin Johnson who suffered through nagging injuries all season, and said unless he was at full strength, he wouldn’t participate in the Pro Bowl.

Jackson’s selection marks the fourth time in franchise history that Tampa Bay as sent a wide receiver to the Pro Bowl. It is Jackson’s third career Pro Bowl selection.
