ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Redskins QB Robert Griffin’s knee surgery today will repair complete tears of both his LCL and ACL. Mort calls it a “total reconstruction,” and says RG3 will be sidelined 6-8 months. That seems like an optimistic timetable. Griffin will be returning from multiple ligament tears. Plus, it’s the 2nd time he’s damaged this ACL. RG3 will miss all offseason workouts and is unlikely to do much in training camp or preseason this summer. Mortensen says Griffin is expected to be ready by the time Week 1 rolls around, but that’s far from a lock. His rehab will be the biggest storyline of the offseason.
