Cowboys Will Use Bye Week to Prepare for Giants

Dallas Cowboy’s wide receiver Dez Bryant had only 2 catches in the loss to the New Orleans Saints(49-17). Cowboys QB Tony Romo was hassled throughout the game and rushed inaccurate throws that was indicated by the pressure he was receiving.

Despite the loss the Cowboys are tied for the division with the Philadelphia Eagles and have a bye next week.

The Saints used a method of putting 2 people on Bryant so they would not get beat on one on one coverage; this method was used earlier in the season with Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson, this had stop big plays down the field. The Saints outplayed the Cowboys and had set a new NFL record with 40 first downs. Saints QB Drew Brees went 34-41 for 392,4 touchdowns, and at one point had completed 19 passes in a row.

We were extremely efficient on offense, both with the run and the pass,” Brees said. “When you have numbers like that — obviously, that doesn’t happen too often.””To come in a win like this, it’s fun,”. ”It says a lot about just today.”

Cowboy’s head owner Jerry Jones was displeased with the outcome of the game;“It’s embarrassing to not be representative [and] not be competitive,”Jones said. The Cowboys did not even complete a third down pass, they were 0-9 and the Saints finished 9-12 with third down conversions.“The biggest thing when you don’t convert those third downs is you’re not going to get into much of a rhythm,” Coach Garrett said. “I thought we had some manageable third downs that we didn’t convert.”

Romo ended the night with 128 yards.“That’s what happens to the really good players,” coach Jason Garrett said. “Both guys consistently have been productive for us throughout their careers. Tonight we needed everybody to be more productive and we didn’t get that done, and the Saints did. We’ll go back and look at it and hopefully get better as a result.”
