The NFL is launching a new contest for fans from all 32 football clubs in order to celebrate the upcoming 93rdseason of the league.

The inaugural “NFL Fan Flag Challenge” will allow fans to design their own version of their favorite NFL team’s flag.  Their designs may include elements of the team’s city, community, traditions, or fans.  The NFL would like fans to submit an essay at NFL.com/fanflags by Sunday July 15th describing their vision of the flag, the inspiration behind their design, and why the design is meaningful to him or her.

Once the contest ends, each team will participate in judging the flag designs created by their fans.  One individual fan from each team will be chosen as a grand prize winner and this means they will participate in the 2012 NFL Kickoff event in New York City.  At this event, which will take place on Wednesday September 5th, every NFL team’s flags will be on display and the winner’s designs will be incorporated into each flag.

Once the 2012 NFL Kickoff event ends, the opening game of the 2012 season will take place at 8:30 PM.  This first game of the season will feature the Super Bowl XLVI Champion New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys playing at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  The “NFL Fan Flag Challenge”, as well as the Giants-Cowboys match-up, both are exciting ways to start off the much anticipated 2012 NFL season.
