NFL prospect Deionte Thompson unlikely to participate in Combine

Alabama- Safety Deionte Thompson will not be available to take part in combine next week because Thompson had surgery on his wrist to repair a torn ligament on Friday. Thompson’s surgery was a success and he will be monitored on a day to day basis. It was speculated that he could participate in Pro Day, which will be March 19.

Thompson was projected to go high in the draft, but after this inury, it may drop his stock down. He has great awareness and instincts that are rare at his age. He can spot where a wide receiver is going, before the receiver can cut. However, double moves in the inside is his Achilles heel. There have been times where Thompson blew a coverage in college trying to sit on the inside route and the receiver faked liked he was going to go to the inside, but went to the outside. His strength is his speed, footwork, and his intelligence.

In three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Thompson recorded 112 combined tackles, 4.5 sacks, three interceptions, and three forced fumbles.
