Seattle, WA- With an impressive 26-13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive line still struggles. Seahawks’ QB Russell Wilson had a phenomenal game. He completed 13 out of 19 for 200 yards and threw for a touchdown. However, there were many break downs on the offensive line. On many occasions, Wilson had to scramble or move out the pocket to extend plays, because his offensive line did not give him any time to throw the ball. He had to improvise and was knocked to the ground a lot after the ball was out of his hands.
Despite many penalties against the Seahawks’ offense, head coach Pete Carroll praised his QB. “Really solid decision-making, really clear thinking, very precise, very quick with the football, the tempo on offense is like we like it. … He’s in command of that,’’ Carroll said. “I know he’s excited.’’
Even though this is still preseason, the offensive line has shown a little improvement, but they have to find a way to give Wilson time in the pocket. The extra hits that he has taken after the ball is out of his hands are unnecessary.
With George Fant on IR and Rees Odhiambo filling in, the Seahawks are doing the necessary things that they need to do in order to be in top shape for the regular season. Seahawks’ center Justin Britt is very optimistic about the O-Line.
“I think our confidence is skyrocketing,” Britt told reporters. “I think our camaraderie and our trust in each other is starting to really show.”I trusted Rees, so did Luke [Joeckel], and we miss George to death and it’s a tragic injury, but Rees is a great man to step up and fill the void. He’s done great all week and he did good tonight.”
With that said, the youngster Chris Carson is coming into his own true self. Each week he has produced numbers and has shown why the Seahawks picked him up. “Every time I get the chance out here to play in the NFL is a blessing,” said Carson “I just take in everything. I take everything for what it is. Like I said, I’m just blessed to be out here.”.
Carson had 46 yards on the ground and had two catches for 44 yards. Carson is seeing more playing time with his impressive running style. He is very agile, can make defenders miss, and can put a pounding on a defensive coordinators’ defense. If he continues with his productivity, he could move up on the list of running backs for the Seahawks.
The Seahawks are undefeated and their last preseason game will be against the Raiders. The irony in this match-up will be former Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch will be playing against his former team. It will be very intriguing to see how some of the players will respond seeing their old teammate.
