Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press confirms that the Lions see RB Mikel Leshoure as a big part of their "inside power run game." HC Jim Schwartz said, "we need to have the ability to pick up tough yardage, and I think that's something that Mikel can do for us." In a perfect world, Leshoure would serve as the team's primary back on early downs, in short-yardage, and around the goal line. RB Jahvid Best would be the change-of-pace and passing-down back. Of course, Best has a scary history of concussions, while Leshoure is recovering from a torn Achilles and is suspended for the first 2 games of the season. Detroit's backfield is still extremely unsettled at this point. Don't forget that RB Kevin Smith is hanging around too. We'll be keeping a close eye on the situation in training camp and preseason.
