Drew Brees Confident a Long-term Deal Will Get Done

Saints QB Drew Brees has yet to sign his exclusive-rights franchise tender as he looks for a new long-term deal.  But he sounds confident that an agreement will be reached before the July 16th deadline for franchise players to sign long-term contracts.[caption id="attachment_7155" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Drew Brees New Orleans Saints"][/caption]The Saints placed their one-year franchise tag on Brees, barring him from negotiating with other teams. Brees has skipped voluntary practices and minicamp while holding out for a long-term deal."I’m still very confident we’ll get a long-term deal done, and hopefully that’ll happen sooner than later," Brees said.  He also confirmed that negotiations are "ongoing."The Saints can only play hardball with their franchise player for so long.  We're fully expecting a deal to be in place that will have Brees on the field for the first day of training camp.
