The Draft Sharks July Draft Experts League pitted some of the top minds in fantasy football against each other. The lineup included 5 industry experts, 5 high-stakes league veterans, and the founders of the Fantasy Football Players Championship!
This is a FFPC Draft Experts format. The big wrinkle there is that TEs receive 1.5 PPR, so you’ll see them flying off the board early. And it’s a “best ball” league — optimal lineups with no free-agents or trades.
Nolan Wilson of Viatorgear.com (also a NASCAR driver and faithful Draft Sharks subscriber) donated a cool Phlat Punk Portable Charger to the winner. We have one for the DS office, and use it constantly when we’re out and about.

And here are some thoughts from each owner on how the draft played out:
Lou Tranquilli

DS: LeSean McCoy #1 overall… explain yourself!
Lou: Pretty simple here. The Eagles have one RB on their roster and in our estimation will fight much harder through the season to be in contention for the playoffs. Shady will be on the field constantly through the season. It’s “splitting hairs” in our opinion between Shady, Arian Foster, and Ray Rice. McCoy wins out because he’s really all the Eagles have in the backfield and we like the Mike Vick factor to keep defenses honest.
DS: What was your favorite pick and why?
Lou: My favorite pick was Coby Fleener, the rookie TE. In this format of Draft Experts, it’s great to have a TE that comes cheap and looks like he will dominate the touches from his position. The Colts backfield is weak and I suspect they will play from behind a lot. Fleener will be needed in catch up mode.
DS: If you could redo one pick, what would it be and why?
Lou: I like Isaiah Pead as a nice late pick, but Lance Kendricks would be on my roster in place of him right now if I could redo.
DS: What are your overall thoughts on how your team turned out?
Lou: Overall I believe it’s a roster filled with very good “starters.” The QB position is key. In this draft I decided to just grab two. Drew Brees and a guy I like this season in Alex Smith. There’s a lot of risk having just two players at a position like QB… they must stay healthy.
DS: Besides your own, who’s the team to beat?
Lou: I like John Haskell’s team. He went nuts on the WRs and the group he put together is rather sick to look at. Assuming they remain healthy he will be a big time point producing team weekly.
