Pro Football Weekly confirms that Panthers WR Brandon LaFell will head to training camp as the #2 WR. But PFW also hears that the team "would eventually like to see David Gettis push Brandon LaFell" for the job. Gettis, of course, was looking like a starter early last summer before going down with a torn ACL. The speedster turned in an encouraging 2010 rookie campaign, finishing with 37 catches for 508 yards and 3 scores. LaFell showed signs of growth late last season but certainly hasn't done enough to lock down the starting job. This battle could get interesting in a hurry if Gettis is back to 100%. The winner will sport WR3 upside as a starter in an up-and-coming passing game.
