Buffalo Bills CEO Russ Brandon along with Saint John Fisher President Dr. Donald Bain held a press conference Monday to kick off the new season and to let the media in on what is new about training camp.
The main addition to Saint John Fisher is that the school added a third field for the team. Brandon stated that the reason for the addition was that training camp at the school was becoming difficult for the team to operate.
“Last year we wanted to take a look and see how it worked,” Brandon said. “It just became a little bit difficult operationally. With the cooperation of Dr. Bain and the addition of the new field, there is a lot of excitement in house amongst our football people. How we navigate that logistically will be much easier. To be on both fields, we have the stadium turf obviously, but we like to be on grass. It will allow Coach Gailey and the coaching staff to get done what they need to get done.”
Obviously, with this being the first time that the team will operate with a third field there will be things that will have to be adjusted on the fly. Brandon said that any adjustments will be made with head coach Chan Gailey and on how the fans will fill in.
The other big news about the Bills lately has been the state of negotiations over a new lease at Ralph Wilson Stadium between the Buffalo Bills and Erie County as the current lease is set to expire in July of next year. Brandon stated that there has been good dialogue between the two and that the dialogue will continue it into the fall.
As for details of the lease, Brandon went on to say that they are private and will remain so.
“I’m not going to get in to any of those negotiations,” Brandon said. “That’s what they just are: negotiations and they’re discussions that need to be kept private and from our standpoint nothing is going to come out from the media. It needs to be a conversation between the County Executive and their team, and our team.”
