It turns out Bengals RB Bernard Scott needed surgery on his injured hand. It's still unclear when Scott got hurt or when he went under the knife. It sounds like he had a broken bone though. His status for Week 1 reportedly depends on when doctors take the screws out of his hand. "He’s working on conditioning, working on carrying the ball and doing those things he’s got to do now," HC Marvin Lewis said of Scott. After missing almost all of August, Scott won't have a big role to open the season. If he can get and stay healthy, though, we still like his odds of eating into BenJarvus Green-Ellis' workload later on.
