Adrian Peterson likely to start slow

Vikings HC Leslie Frazier reiterated that RB Adrian Peterson's workload will likely be limited early on. "He's so valuable to our organization that we have to be smart," Frazier said. "We'll tread lightly as far as Week 1 and how much he'll contribute on the field. Even when we get to training camp, he's going to be chomping at the bit but we'll have to be smart." At this point, we're expecting AP to be ready for the season-opener but to see something like 8-12 touches in the first few games. Toby Gerhart would operate as the lead back in that case. A lot can change between now and September though. We'll continue to track Peterson's recovery from last year's torn ACL.
